Throughout the school year, CLARC members teach a 9-week Technician license course at intermediate schools as a technical elective for the students. Our members are currently teaching at Westbrook and League City Intermediate Schools.
At the conclusion of the course, CLARC VE’s administer an exam session for the students at their school.
The Clear Creek Amateur Radio Club (CCARC) (KC5KBO) is a student organization for amateur operators in the Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD). While not affiliated with CCISD, the club does enjoy the benefits of members who have been licensed through classes taught at Westbrook Intermediate and League City Intermediate schools.
The CCARC callsign was originally held by Nick Lance Jr. (SK). Nick was a very active ham in the Clear Lake/NASA area and a member of CLARC. Nick was a passionate advocate for ham radio and taught these Hamster classes for many years.
CCARC/KC5KBO is usually on the air throughout the school year on the VHF frequencies in the Clear Lake/Johnson Space Center area and occasionally on 20 meters HF. If you hear KC5KBO calling CQ, please give the students a call.
